| TSMC and ERSO show off magnetic RAM chip 1MB by year end A REPORT IN TODAY'S Taiwan
Economic News says that megafoundry Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC)
and the Electronic Research & Service Organisation (ERSO) have showed off
a 1K magnetoresistive random access memory (MRAM) chip. MRAM is an interesting breakthrough in memory technology because it offers extremely low power consumption matched with fast write and read speeds. The Taiwanese quango and TSMC are in a race to produce devices just like Big Blue, Samsung and Motorola. The prototype chipolata was produced using a .18µ (micron) process, but TSMC's capacities aren't as great as its competitors NEC, Big Blue and Samsung. According
to the Economic News, the cunning plan is to integrate the MRAM with system on
a chip devices From: http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=15907 |
